As mommies or daddies to preschoolers, it is mandatory to send your kids to school with a lunch box.
As a mommy myself who has a kid in preschool, and who also teaches preschool full time, I know lunch box is a must.
Let me tell you, when that bell rings and it's time for lunch, even the kid who doesn't eat at home, runs to take their lunch to eat.
It's almost like a reflex for them.
Now just imagine a child with no lunch box? the sadness you'll see on his face when he sees the teacher taking food from bag packs and handing each kid their food except him?
Infact they know the bag they carry to school every single day is meant for one thing only and that is, to carry their lunch.
That is why everytime Im taking my 4yr old to school, she asks "mommy, what is in my bag?".
Back in the days before COVID, some schools will prepared breakfast and lunch for kids. Not anymore!!!
Now you need to do it yourself.
However, coming up with easy and budget friendly lunch ideas from Monday to Friday can be very difficult for most parents especially with inflation and prices of groceries increasing daily.
That is why In today's mommy with a budget update, I will be sharing 5 very easy and cost friendly kids lunch ideas for broke and tired mommies.
These recipes will cost you little to nothing to make and plus, it takes only about 5-10 minutes to prep each recipe.
5 Easy and quick kids lunch recipes for broke moms and housewives.
1) Banana fritters.
You see that over ripped Banana you are thinking of dashing it in the trash can? Don't. here is how you can whip it up and turn it into a great recipe that your kid can have as school lunch.
Recipes:
Overriped banana
flour
water.
procedure
mash the ripped banana in a bowl and add in your flour and mix together. Make sure the consistency should be abit soft. Add in a bit of water to the mix to make it softer Incase it's not.
Put oil in a frying pan and let it get hot (but not too hot)
Start frying. You can use a spoon or your hands to scoop your mix and put in the oil.
When it turns golden brown, change sides.
Voila..Your banana fritters is ready and your kid can enjoy their lunch.
This recipe is rich, flavored and very natural.No sugar and no additives. What I love.
2) Boiled riped plantain with scrambled egg
This is a simple but very healthy and delicious breakfast/lunch for kids.You need just little groundnut oil for this recipe plus It takes less than 10minutes to cook.

peel and boil your ripped plantain, remove and let it cool.
Fry your egg scrambled.
You can just place it in your kid's lunch bowl, add in a bottle of water or juice and call it a day. Perfect, cheap and simple. My kid love it Soo much and I'm sure yours will.
3) Spaghetti omelette
One of my kid's favorite and also simple for me to cook up.
procedure:
boil your spaghetti, not too soft.
wash with tab water and strain using a strainer.Remove and place In a bowl. Add 1 egg, 1 tomato, celery(optional),carrot(optional), Maggie and salt. Mix all well together and fry without stirring. when it turns brown, change sides
You can serve it with just water or milk or juice depending on what yycan afford.
4) Bread and pear
Buy a bread and pear. slice up the pear into smaller pieces and spread inside the bread. place in kid's lunch bowl and serve with water, or milk (u fresh which cost 100frs) just anything that you can afford.
5) Fried/boiled ripped plantain with Pear.
Another cost effective lunch idea. The recipe is simple but, if you are on an extremely tight budget, Instead of going for fried plantain and fried egg which will obviously need much more oil to prepare, you can go for boiled plantain with Pear.
Serve it with water.
